Deirdre Whelan

Deirdre has more than 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry in a wide variety of roles in Research & Development, Technical Services and Operations.  Deirdre joined Pfizer as the Technical Services lead in 2004 to lead the transfer of Women’s Health products from the United States into a new high-containment facility in Newbridge, Ireland.  

After this Deirdre moved into manufacturing as an Operations Lead for several years prior to moving into the PC1 Site Lead in Newbridge. While in this role, Deirdre introduced and grew the PC1 contract business to 50 percent of the site’s production activity today.  During this growth period, she established an operational model to ensure the customer experience is best-in-class, which was replicated where required and possible within the PGS network. For the last 5 years Deirdre has been in PC1 Operations role managing multiple customers across 26 PGS sites.

Deirdre has a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Higher Diploma in Bio/Chem analytical and a Master’s Degree in Pharmacy from Trinity College, Dublin. She lives in Ireland with her husband Alan and has two children, Conor and Elle. Deirdre loves to travel with her family, watch rugby, read, go to the gym and practice yoga.
